4K vs 1080p for TV Rentals

TVs 4K or 1080p. What is best when renting a TV?

These days, 4K TVs are more popular than older 1080p TV’s. The immediate observation is that 4K TVs offer up to 4 times as much resolution than 1080p.  Here we will compare some observations when renting a TV, should you choose 2160p (4k) or 1080p?

What is resolution?

Resolution is a term that refers to the total number of pixels that a screen can display. It is typically measured in the number of horizontal pixels by vertical pixels. When a TV has a higher resolution, that usually means that the images have much more detail (provided that the displayed content is also of higher resolution) and images are also much sharper.

Some common resolution TVs are 1280 x 720 *also known as 720p or HD), 1920 x 1080 (also known as 1080p or Full HD), and 4K (also known as 2160p or UHD Ultra HD).

Content to display on your TVs

When it comes to content available for 4K or 1080p TVs, there is still a lot more content to watch in Full HD, however the amount of shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime to name a few are increasing every month. Many businesses are also creating 4K content for advertising and to improve brand awareness at events and conferences.

Cost

When comparing the colour quality of 4K vs 1080p, UHD TVs win by a long shot. Screens like OLED can control the amount of light for each pixel which will give more realistic colos and darker blacks.

The run down

Is 4K worth it for conferences or when you rent TVs? Well the answer to that depends on your requirements. Firstly if you have contact that needs to be displayed in 4K then the answer is a definite yes. This goes for vides that display detail, like car commercials or engineering displays. If you would just like to get the message out without the worry of lots of detail then 1080p is the better choice. When it comes to TV rentals, the cost is almost the same, you would probably be looking at the difference of R50 – R100 per TV. If I was having an event, I would always aim to have the best of everything especially since the cost is about the same. Overall, viva 4K!
